The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) has stepped up enforcement and awareness efforts against the unnecessary use of high-beam headlights across Punjab.
The campaign, being conducted under the directions of IG Motorways Sultan Ahmed Chaudhry, includes action against motorists who use high beams improperly, particularly in the central region.
The drive is currently being carried out on major routes including the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2), Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, M-2 South and M-3, while awareness activities are also taking place on the M-4 and M-5.
Motorway Police officials have warned that strong headlight glare can temporarily affect the vision of drivers approaching from the opposite direction. This can make it harder to identify the road, turns and sudden obstacles in time.
Motorists have been advised to switch to low beam or appropriate lighting when approaching oncoming traffic and to follow safe driving practices, particularly at night.
