This instruction came during a high-level meeting focused on the national EV transition, where officials presented updates on initiatives aimed at boosting electric mobility nationwide.
The prime minister stated that faster adoption of EVs would help reduce reliance on imported fuel, contribute to environmental sustainability, and strengthen long-term energy security. He urged authorities to implement existing policies without delay to ensure visible results.
He also stressed the importance of transparency in subsidy programs for electric motorcycles, particularly for low-income groups, and instructed officials to expedite these schemes for better accessibility.
According to officials:
72 manufacturing certificates have been issued for electric bikes and rickshaws
4 licenses have been granted for EV production
123 applications have been submitted for EV charging stations across the country
The meeting was attended by federal ministers and senior officials, reflecting the government’s strong commitment to advancing electric mobility as part of its broader economic and energy strategy.
