Petrol prices in Pakistan are revised every 15 days in consultation with the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), keeping in view international oil prices, exchange rate movements, and government taxes. Any change in fuel prices directly impacts inflation, transportation costs, and household expenses.
Moreover, a significant cut in kerosene oil prices is also under consideration, which would bring relief to households in colder areas where it is commonly used for cooking and heating. If the proposal is approved, the total decrease in petroleum prices across various fuel types could be close to Rs. 11 per litre.
The federal government will make the final decision after reviewing the proposal sent by the oil industry. Once approved, the new fuel prices will be announced and applied nationwide.
If approved, the decision may bring financial relief and help reduce the burden of increasing living costs for consumers across the country.
