The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is working on a new time-based electronic parking system at seven locations in Islamabad. The system will digitally track how long vehicles remain parked and automatically monitor parking charges through an electronic dashboard.
CDA officials informed the Senate Standing Committee on Interior that work on the project is underway. The new system aims to improve parking management and make fee collection more transparent.
DG Enforcement Anum Fatima said the Blue Area parking plaza has been completed and will help reduce parking issues. She also confirmed that cashless payments and QR codes are being used at parking facilities.
However, Senator Abid Sher Ali questioned why parking fees are still being collected on roads despite the completion of the Blue Area parking plaza. He also suggested that new plazas should only receive an NOC if they provide adequate underground parking facilities.
