Islamabad Bus Terminals Shut Down Ahead of Iranian President’s Visit
June 23, 2026 — Security has been significantly tightened in Islamabad ahead of the arrival of Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, resulting in the temporary closure of several major bus terminals across the capital.
Key transport hubs, including Faizabad and Chungi No. 26, have suspended operations, with services expected to remain halted until the conclusion of the presidential visit. Authorities have also sealed the Red Zone, allowing entry only to authorized personnel.
More than 1,000 police officers and paramilitary personnel have been deployed throughout Islamabad to ensure security. Enhanced arrangements have been put in place along important routes and sensitive locations, while Metro Bus and e-bus services may also face temporary disruptions during the visit.
The heightened security measures are part of preparations for high-level meetings between the Iranian President and Pakistan’s leadership aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and discussing regional matters.
