Chinese scientists at the Chinese Academy of Sciences have created a new solid-state lithium battery that could give electric cars a driving range of 1,000 to 1,500 km on a single charge — enough to travel the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway almost four times.
The battery offers very high energy density and can charge extremely fast, in nearly 3 minutes. Researchers say it still kept around 82% battery health after 700 charging cycles.
The new technology uses a special method to improve battery safety, stability, and performance. In testing, the battery also passed safety checks like nail penetration tests without catching fire or losing structure.
This battery is much more powerful than today’s common LFP batteries used in most EVs. Major Chinese companies including CATL, BYD, and Ganfeng Lithium are now working toward commercial production by 2026–2027.
