Punjab has introduced the Pak ID mobile application to enable biometric verification for vehicle owners, making vehicle registration, transfer, and purchasing more convenient and user-friendly.
With this digital system in place, citizens will no longer need to make repeated visits to government offices for biometric verification. Pakistanis residing within the country as well as overseas can now complete the verification process remotely from their homes.
According to officials, once biometric authentication is successfully completed, the vehicle ownership transfer process will become more transparent, allowing dues to be paid online through e-pay and other digital payment platforms.
The Pak ID app was officially launched by the Director General of Excise and Taxation during a ceremony held at his office on Monday.
The Director General stated that the application is expected to streamline ownership transfers for more than 26 million vehicles across Punjab. After verification and payment of fees, the ownership transfer will be completed within 48 hours.
