Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the design of the Gujranwala Mass Transit System, marking a major step toward improving the city’s public transport infrastructure.
The project, spanning approximately 31.5 kilometers from Gakhar to Eminabad, will include 24 stations, with certain sections planned underground to ensure smoother traffic flow. Authorities have also been directed to connect all parts of the city through feeder bus services, helping reduce congestion.
In addition, solar energy systems will be installed at stations and depots to promote environmentally friendly operations. The project is expected to be completed within 12 months and aims to provide modern, efficient, and international-standard travel facilities for the residents of Gujranwala.
