Lahore Traffic Police Ban Qingqi & Loader Rickshaws On Canal Road
Lahore Traffic Police has announced a strict restriction on loader rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws entering Canal Road in an effort to improve traffic conditions and minimize road accidents.
Chief Traffic Officer Lahore, Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi, stated that loader rickshaws carrying oversized and unsafe loads have become a major safety concern, often leading to serious accidents. He further explained that Qingqi rickshaws are one of the key reasons behind heavy traffic jams and slow vehicle movement on Canal Road.
The CTO has also directed authorities to take strict action against auto-rickshaw drivers who allow extra passengers to sit beside the driver seat.
To enforce the new restrictions effectively, dedicated traffic teams have been stationed at key locations including Dharampura, Mughalpura, and Thokar Niaz Baig.
Traffic officials warned that any officer failing to properly implement the crackdown may also face disciplinary action from the department.
