The federal government has announced new safety rules for all vehicles on Pakistan’s motorways after a serious accident on the M-9 raised concerns about vehicle fitness. Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan ordered an immediate investigation and directed motorway police to submit a detailed report, showing a tougher stance on road safety.
Under the new rules, strict vehicle checks will be carried out before motorway entry. Vehicles with worn, damaged, weak, or expired tyres will not be allowed, as unsafe tyres are a major cause of accidents. Authorities will also inspect brakes, lights, and overall condition of vehicles.
These rules apply to all vehicles, including private cars, buses, vans, and heavy trucks, with no exceptions or favoritism. Officials have been told to enforce the rules equally.
The government says strong monitoring and strict enforcement will help reduce accidents and make motorways safer for everyone.
