Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has formally launched the “One App” digital traffic challan system, marking the country’s first move toward evidence-based traffic law enforcement.
A Traffic Police representative stated that the system promotes transparency by issuing challans backed by video proof. Footage of traffic violations will be securely saved and can be reviewed for verification.
Through the app, authorities will be able to instantly verify CNICs, driving licences, and check records of stolen vehicles. Vehicle ownership details, fitness status, and route permits can also be examined on the spot.
The spokesperson further explained that the digital platform will also be used to take action against illegal encroachments and environmental offences. Under this unified system, e-challans will be generated, while access to FIR status and criminal history will also be available. In the next phase, a points-based penalty system will be introduced, along with FIR registration for selected traffic offences.
Citizens will be informed about traffic violations via QR codes.
